FAQs

About IVF BFF

Why did you start IVF BFF?
Because IVF is a lot to carry alone. I wanted people to have a trusted RN they can text, video with, or invite over on shot night. Less guesswork. More calm. While working at an IVF clinic I saw just how much the patient has to handle, and saw the possibility of helping with that burden.

What makes IVF BFF different?
Clinical know-how with real-life kindness. I translate instructions, set up your station, double-check the details, and stay until you feel steady. Think supportive friend energy with nursing standards.

Do you replace my fertility doctor?
No. Your fertility specialist leads your care. I reinforce their plan, teach safe techniques, and help you feel confident between clinic visits.

Services and Process

What support do you offer?
Education on meds and timing, general care questions, and interpreting your doctors instructions. Step-by-step teaching for mixing and injection technique. In-home assistance for prescribed injections. Virtual coaching for prep, practice, and questions. Comfort tips, organization tricks, and checklists.

How do I book?
First, reach out with an email (yourivfbff@gmail.com)! We’ll get back to you within 24-48 hours with next steps.

What happens at the first visit?
We review your clinic’s orders, walk through your med plan, make sure your workspace is set up, and practice together. If it’s an injection night, I’ll verify the “five rights”: medication, dose, route, site, time, and assist or administer depending on which package you purchase.

Do I need my medications before we meet?
Yes. Your clinic or pharmacy supplies all meds and syringes.

How long are sessions?
Most visits are 30 or 60 minutes. Injection visits are timed to your schedule. I do not leave you mid-step.

Can my support person join?
Absolutely, in fact I’d prefer you have a support person there if possible. Your support person could either be your partner, friend, family member or even your arch nemesis if that is what you’d prefer! I’ll teach them the exact technique and safety checks so you both feel ready.

How often should I book?
Your call. Some clients want help for the first shot only. Others like support for the whole stim phase and trigger night. We can mix in virtual touchpoints too.

How should I prepare for a visit?
Have your meds, supplies, and clinic instructions handy. Clear a well-lit table or counter. Wash hands. I’ll guide the rest.

Boundaries and Safety

Can you change my medications if I have a concern?
No. Only your fertility provider can diagnose, prescribe, or adjust your plan. If anything looks off, we pause and contact your clinic, and I’ll help with that.

Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Video coaching is available in states where I’m licensed to practice as an RN. Same calm guidance, just from your couch.

What if something feels urgent?
Severe pain, heavy bleeding, trouble breathing, fever, hives, or a sudden change means call your clinic’s emergency line or 911. IVF BFF is not emergency care.

Is my information private?
Yes. Your details stay confidential. With your permission I can coordinate with your designated entities to coordinate your care

Are you affiliated with any clinics?

No, IVF BFF is not affiliated with any clinics. IVF BFF was brought to life, to assist patients going to various clinics through their fertility journey. Nearly all IVF clinics are simply overworked trying to help all of the families needing fertility treatment and I want to make you feel like more than a number in this journey.

Where and When

Where do you serve in person?
Based in Windham, Maine with local travel for home visits. Virtual sessions are available more broadly where nursing licensure allows.

Where are you currently licensed?

All thanks to possessing a compact nursing license, I am authorized to perform services and have telehealth visits across the following states:

Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

Do you offer evening or weekend help?
Yes, because shot timing is real and guess what? You’re human and may have obligations that make day-time services/communication nearly impossible. Services booked after hours may see a slight after-hours surcharge, but you can book those at 8 pm if that would work best for your situation. You’ll see current availability when you book. If you need a specific time, note it and I’ll try to accommodate.

Costs and Logistics

How much does it cost?
Transparent, session-based pricing at booking. Packages are available if you want ongoing support through your cycle. Check out our services page!

Do you work with clinics directly?
With your consent I can confirm timing, dosing, or technique questions with your clinic so we keep everything aligned. If you plan on having more than one visit with me, we’ll get the permission form from your clinic to allow me to have ongoing access to your chart and clinic information.

Do you offer payment plans?
Not at this time, payment is due before services are rendered.

Additional Services

Do you offer more than injection support?
Yes! Many clients want someone to handle the whole process so they can just focus on themselves. That’s why we offer the Total IVF Package. Please send an email or fill out our contact form to inquire about this service. We’ll set up a consult call to go over what exactly you’re looking for, timing, and what’s covered.

There’s something I need that’s not listed in your services!

Definitely fill out our contact form or shoot us an email. There’s a lot we can do on an à la carte basis.
